Soccer is structurally different — again

Basketball hands you possessions. Football hands you plays. Baseball hands you discrete events. Soccer hands you ninety minutes of continuous possession, space, and pressing — a structure that would demand its own research program: possession value, progression, off-ball contribution, defensive disruption, team styles.

If Pitch Signal is built, it will adapt the shared Signal standards — context before counting stats, rate separated from volume, uncertainty on the page, failed experiments retained — rather than copying a single formula from the NBA, NFL, or MLB products. World Cup and club-season interest prompted the concept; interest is not a model.
